Dr. Burjor A. Bharucha, Professor
of Pediatrics, and In-charge, Genetic Clinic at the Seth G. S. Medical
College and K. E. M. Hospital, Mumbai suffered a massive heart attack
at work and expired on 11th October 1998. After
an illustrious undergraduate and postgraduate medical career, Dr. Bharucha
opted for a full-time teaching career at the Seth G. S. Medical College
and K. E. M. Hospital. His commitment to his patients, students and colleagues
left a lasting impression on all those who came in contact with him. His
classmates will remember him for his dedication to his work, his excellent
clinical skills and his ability to solve the most intricate problems.
His patients will remember him for his empathy and caring whilst being
treated for their illnesses. Above all, his students will remember him
for his unsurpassed teaching skills, his everlasting urge to help those
in need and his enthusiasm, which motivated them to excel in various fields
of life. To
continue the high academic and teaching standards set by Dr. Bharucha,
some of his teachers, friends, colleagues and students have come together
to form a public charitable trust, viz. “The Professor B. A. Bharucha
